Children and Young People's Ministry

Young people night out

Children and young people are very welcome at Christ Church.

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. We place value on worshipping God all together as a congregation, before the younger members go off to their classes.

During the first part of the service there is a short children's talk, after which there will be an announcement for the younger members to go off with their teachers, while the adults (and sometimes teens) stay on for the sermon.

Group activities vary depending on the age but you can expect a friendly welcome, bible stories and prayers, and younger ones typically also have arts and crafts. Regular attendants also receive their very own bible.

The Junior Church celebrate an annual anniversary, and over the last few years they have played a pivotal role in leading the service on that day, selecting songs and readings, and performing a sketch or dance.

A Warm Hello from Christ Church!

Easter -daffodils

Located on McDermott road, we are 5-10 minutes walk from Peckham Rye Train Station, or 10 mins walk from the Nigel Road bus stop on Peckham Rye ( Buses 343, 12 etc).

Our church is made up of people from all walks of life who have a common belief in Jesus and His love for each one of us.

You may be interested to know that Christ Church McDermott was the site of the first Religious Radio Broadcast to a UK Church (watch re-enactment here), and recently featured on Songs of Praise on 1/9/24. You can view clips of that show on twitter or facebook.

We love to see new people and we really hope that you will feel right at home.
Our Sunday mornings begin with a warm welcome from our greeters and our service begins at 11am with an invitation to join in thanksgiving and praise to God.

Our worship is a comfortable mix of contemporary songs as well as familiar well loved hymns, and we encourage young and old to join together in song.
We look forward to a time of refreshing and encouragement as we put time aside to spend with God and with each other.
