..Who calls things that are not (in existence) as though they were…

Not long ago someone gave me a houseplant as a gift.🌺 It all started so well...but sadly, like other houseplants before it,  it wasn’t long before it started to wither away under my infrequent careπŸ˜”. In spite of my wishes for the plant to last , the busy-ness of work and life took priority, and I was unable to give it the attention it deserved, leading to the regretful decision to put it out of its obvious misery.😩

Hoping to give it a last shot at life, I took it out to the garden, hoping the rain and fresh air would magically restore it. I’m embarrassed to admit,🀫 but I again forgot about it.

A few months later, I learned it had been cared for and transplanted, and was surprised and pleased to see lovely, healthy green shoots in place of the tired brown stalks.😊

I was reminded of the valley of the dry bones (Ezekiel 37)– and how sometimes we look at various situations, and conclude that all hope is lost πŸ€”. Yet God says He is the God who makes the dead live again, and calls things that are not as if they are..(Romans 4:17).

May the good Lord restore and strengthen  your hope and faith, bring to life those seemingly tired brown stalks of life you may be carrying, and give you His peace and reassurance that He is both willing and able to perfect that which concerns you.πŸ˜‡

Site of first Religious Radio Broadcast to a UK Church

on air

Built in 1880, our church holds a unique place in history as the site of the first religious radio broadcast to a UK church. This groundbreaking event which took place on the 30th July 1922, allowed worshippers in Christ Church to hear Dr James Ebenezer Boon as he broadcast from Blackheath, paving the way for modern Christian broadcasting.

In 2023, Paul Kerensa a well known writer and comedian, visited the church and re-enacted the broadcast, as shown here.

history

From its early days, our church has been a beacon of faith, committed to spreading the Gospel through both traditional and contemporary means. Today, we continue to honor this legacy, fostering a community feel, rooted in the love of Christ and dedicated to serving our neighbors with compassion as part of our Christian values.

We will be updating more on the history of Christ Church McDermott, do visit this page again soon!
